JOB DESCRIPTION

The Revenue Assurance Specialist plays a critical role in identifying, analyzing, and presenting revenue leakage. This involves research across complex and high-volume transactions while learning proprietary data tools and company-specific ecosystems. This position is responsible for advanced reconciliation, root-cause analysis, and recognition of eligible disputes for underpaid or unpaid revenue. This individual will also contribute to process improvements, data integrity, and scalable reporting solutions, utilizing any existing analytical skills/tools and learning new ones.

This is a senior individual contributor role requiring strong analytical judgment, technical proficiency, and the ability to work independently across multiple data sources and systems. The individual should be comfortable with ever-changing ad-hoc reports.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Revenue Assurance & Reconciliation

  • Perform detailed analysis and reconciliation of commission, rebate, and incentive data across multiple internal and external systems (e.g., POS, payment platforms, partner files).
  • Identify revenue leakage, underpayments, no-pays, and systemic discrepancies.
  • Prepare, submit, and track disputes with external partners and vendors through resolution.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of findings, assumptions, and outcomes to support auditability and repeatability.

Data Analysis & Reporting

  • Analyze large, complex datasets to surface trends, anomalies, and control gaps.
  • Develop and maintain analytical workflows to support recurring and ad hoc revenue assurance needs.
  • Create clear, concise reporting for leadership that quantifies financial impact and highlights root causes.
  • Support quarterly and annual initiatives tied to revenue recovery and control effectiveness.

Process Improvement & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Finance, FP&A, Compliance, Operations, and Technology teams to address root causes of recurring issues.
  • Provide actionable insights to system and process owners to reduce future revenue leakage.
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of controls, documentation, and standard operating procedures.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on revenue flows, data dependencies, and assurance methodologies.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

  • Experience in Business Analytics, Information Systems, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in Revenue Assurance, Commission Reconciliation, Financial Analysis, Audit, or a similar analytical role.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work through incomplete or imperfect data.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, large datasets).
  • Ability to communicate complex findings clearly and simply to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Preferred / Plus Qualifications

  • Experience working in high-volume, transaction-based environments (telecom, retail, financial services, or similar).
  • Hands-on experience or willingness to learn data and analytics tools such as:
  • SQL (querying and validating large datasets)
  • Power BI or similar BI/visualization platforms
  • KNIME or other analytics/workflow automation tools
  • Familiarity with data modeling, reconciliation logic, and control frameworks.
  • Experience partnering with external vendors or carriers on financial disputes.

What Success Looks Like in This Role

  • Independently managing complex discrepancy investigations from identification through resolution.
  • Delivering measurable revenue recoveries and clearly articulating financial impact.
  • Reducing repeat issues by influencing upstream process or system improvements.
  • Being recognized as a trusted analytical partner and subject matter expert within Revenue Assurance.
